Nick Lemoing (the man behind Bessie Ventures) is a sofware engineer based in Vancouver, B.C. The winding road that brought him there passed through Waterloo (where he earned a Bachelor of Computer Science), NYC (where he lived and worked for four years), and Australia (which is where Bessie comes into the picture).
In 2025, shortly after getting married, Nick and his wife Lauren decided to leave their jobs and move to Australia. They bought Bessie, a 2004 Mercedes-Benz MB140D campervan, and spent the next year driving her around the country. With Bessie, they covered nearly 15,000 kilometers across 4 states, worked behind bars, bike stands and valet counters, and camped on more beaches than there are in the entire province of Alberta (Nick's first home).
Though Bessie has moved on to her next adventure, Nick is keeping her spirit alive with Bessie Ventures, a software consultancy that specializes in full-stack development for early stage start-ups. Nick's experience at Noom during their hyper-growth phase has given him a unique perspective on what it means to grow a software business, especially in the health-tech or behaviour-change space. We aim to be true generalists by focusing on real-world problems and can embed in any pre-existing tech stack.
